~mercantile update tonight~

TDIPT Mercantile will update tonight. March is a special month on the Mercantile, we'll be celebrating our third birthday. Be sure to take a look and maybe you'll find something you need to bring a touch of Spring to your home. Also you'll have a chance to enter our Birthday Give-Away to possibly win one of the wonderful handmades offered by some of the TDIPT Artists.
So be sure to check out the Mercantile tonight and again on March 14th.

I'm offering Maude, a large bunny, and Tilly, her pet crow. Maude is almost 29 inches tall. She's dressed in multiple layers...pants, underdress, ruffled print pinafore and a vintage, button-front baby dress that has delicate pink, blue and green embroidery on the front.
The picture does not show Tilly but does show the wool bag that Maude carries Tilly's nest and egg in.
Be sure to click on my TDIPT link above (right) to read about Maude and Tilly. The Mercantile will update around 9:00 p.m. eastern time tonight.

I've also been working on some orders and hope to have something listed on Ebay this week too.
I've been working on a PictureTrail site where I hope to offer some of my handmades for sale once a month. Keep checking back, I'll let you know when I have it ready and the link to it.

I hope during the upcoming month we'll all start to see the signs of Spring. This has been quite a winter with plenty of snow, wind and cold temperatures and I'll definitely be glad to see it end!

Hoping to update you some more in the coming days...

~longing for Spring~

I'm sorry to say this is not the view from my windows...no matter how much I wish it was! I took this picture last Spring of some of my daffodils. I know it won't be that long before I see some blooms but with all the snow we've had this winter it just seems so far away. And now the weatherman is saying we could get several more inches Monday. At least I am getting some things done. I've been cleaning and sewing. Last weekend I went through all of my cookbooks and got out a few that I never use to donate to our Library. I organized the rest and now they aren't falling out on my feet everytime I open the cabinet door to get a recipe.

Today I did lots of dusting, vacuuming and rearranging some of my collections. I also completed a simple little Rabbit make-do and listed it on Ebay last night. And finally, thanks to all the snow keeping me in, I have all of my paperwork for my taxes ready, I just have to deliver them to the guy that does my taxes for me. Last year I didn't get my taxes done until almost April 15th.

Tomorrow I'll clean out my spice cabinet and possibly get some more sewing done. So even though I've been longing for Spring and the daffodils at least I'm making good use of my time and will have a clean house and organized cupboards to show for it. And that does give me a very good feeling.

Till next time...Diane.

~a find and a thought~

Recently I came across this little pair of bib overalls in a drawer. They came from my Grandfather's country store and are a pair of salesman sample Anvil Brand overalls. The label on the bib also says High Point NC. I find this interesting because High Point is so noted for their furniture not clothing, (at least not that I'm aware of). If any of you know anything about these or the Anvil Brand please let me know, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. Someone had suggested to me that they may belong on a doll but not in this case because my Dad remembers his Mother giving them to him from the store and that they were a sample pair.

The following picture was taken of one of my piesafes. I've had the snowmen on there since before Christmas. I'm thinking now is a good time to put them away. We've had way too much snow this winter, two snows of 12" or more. Now to some of you this may not seem like much but I live in central Virginia and it's most unusual for us. At this point I'm very sick and tired of looking out and seeing so much snow! I'm ready for daffodils, crocuses and pussy willow blooms. So I'm defintely thinking these snowmen have to go away till next winter.

Here's hoping for the longer, warmer and sunnier days of
Spring...I'm ready for them!
