A Sneak Peek

These two make-do's, a Harvest Moon and a Jack-O-Lantern, will be offered on TDIPT Mercantile tomorrow evening around 9:00 P.M. eastern time. Each make-do is secured to a small rusty bucket.
I hope you can stop by and see the offerings from the artists that update on the 1st.

My canning is slowing down considerably. I'm still doing 2 or 3 qts. of tomatoes here and there but for the most part, I'm through.

I hope to have something finished this week for Ebay and I'm also working on a special-order witch this week.

Enjoy the week

~Way Past Due~

In the last several weeks I've received two wonderful packages. The first from our last TDIPT swap. The rules for this swap were for just one item, handmade, and for whatever holiday or time of the year our swap partner chose. My partner was Mary Fischer or Mare, as we call her, of OAKHOLLOWSTUDIOS I love Fall and Mare handstitched me this gorgeous penny-rug style table runner. Aren't the colors beautiful?

The second box was completely unexpected! Kathy of
SWEETWILLIAMPRIMITIVES had a surprise giveaway on her blog. She drew her winner from those that follow her blog. I was most fortunate to be the name she drew! I knew what I had won, she had a picture of the prizes on her blog. When the box came I was thrilled to open it and see the wonderful little hanger "Hallow's Eve" that Kathy had stitched, a Jack-O-Lantern stitchery pattern, a yummy smelling Pumpkin Cinnamon spray and a little unexpected treat, a package of canning labels. Kathy is a follower of my blog and she knew how much I've been canning this summer. Take a look at all the goodies she sent me.

So Kathy and Mare, the "Thank you's" are way past due but no less heartfelt. I love each thing I received and will treasure them. Both handmades will be part of my Fall decorating this year. Both of you are very talented and I'm so glad to have something from each of you.

By the way, the pumpkins in the pictures are a few from our garden. Their medium and smaller size make them perfect for how I like to use them. When I get my Fall things all out and displayed I'll take some pictures and post them here.

A New Look

For those of you that come by often I know you notice I have a new Fall/Halloween look. I owe so many thanks to Jan of Big Brown Dog Graphics for all of her help. If you're ever in need of some new graphics or templates check out Jan's offerings. She'll be there for you every step of the way.

I didn't have the time to make anything for the Simply Primitives update this month but I will be returning September the 15th with new Fall/Halloween pieces.
This has been another hot, busy week of canning so there hasn't been any sewing since Tuesday. I still have a couple of orders to get done and I'm trying to keep something on Ebay.

I'm still canning stringbeans and tomatoes, I cannot believe the beautiful tomatoes we've been picking. There are huge red, pink and a few yellow tomatoes, I just can them all together. The flavor is so good!
I think often, as I work on the tomatoes in my air-conditioned kitchen, of my maternal Grandmother. She canned huge quantities of vegetables in her hot kitchen on a wood cookstove. She also made lots of cucumber pickles, pickled beets and peaches, relishes and even canned chickens and sausages. In fact my Mom used to say that very often the only thing her Mother had to buy were flour and sugar. Can you imagine going to the grocery store and just buying sugar and flour? I know I can't. But I honestly think they ate much better, not to mention healthier, than we do.

Anyway, I hope you like the new look and keep checking back to see what's new in my world.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Ebay & In the Spotlight

Tonight I listed this Harvest Moon Cupboard Doll. I hope you'll take a minute to click on my Ebay lick and take a look at him.
Also I'm the featured Artist on the TDIPT blog this month. If you want to get to know a bit more about me go check out the Group's blog. Simply click on TDIPT Blog in the Friends to visit column.
I'm still working on vegetables, one day tomatoes the next stringbeans. I don't know how much longer the garden will hold out, the rains have slowed and the heat has been pretty intense the last week. So, I'm happy to have the veggies to can, they'll be so good this winter.
I hope to share some pictures of our first pumpkins soon, it's been a good year for them also.

Til next time~Diane

Tonight on Ebay...

I listed this Pumpkin Hanger based on a candy corn theme. It's part of the TDIPT Group Launch "CANDY CORN CARNIVAL". Take a few minutes and check out the listings, there are some really cute pieces.
Since I last posted things have been extremely busy. I'm canning tomatoes and stringbeans now. I finished up my pickle and the squash have slowed down quite a bit.
I also managed to finsh two new pieces for the TDIPT Mercantile update this past Friday night. I was very pleased and grateful to have sold both items the first night. I'm fortunate to have some very good customers and I'm thankful for each one. I know with the economy like it's been it's very hard to reconcile buying decorative items now. Please know that I'm very thankful for each purchase you make from me. I truly could not do what I love without such great customers.
I don't know if I'll manage to make anything for Simply Primitives this month. If I do, it has to be finished by the 10th. Most likely it will be September before I return to SP. I have lots of ideas, but my time is so limited for sewing right now. I also have a couple of special orders I need to get done.
I'll try to post again soon, til then, enjoy the hot August month, cold weather will be here before you know it!~Diane
