Today I took the day off and headed to the mountains to my friend Donna's wonderful Antique shops. The purpose was to take some things I'd made for her Holiday Open House this Saturday, Nov. 1st. Go take a look at her PictureTrail site. Just click the link to Southern Star Antiques under Friends to Visit.
Donna has pictures of the ongoing process of renovating the old house, the current shop in the garage on the property, antiques for sale and her sister shop, Sunny Mountain Antiques. I know you'll enjoy your visit.
After we left Donna's, my Aunt and I had lunch and then visited Blue Moon Antiques, another great stop for Antiques. So my break from sewing today was just what I needed and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Now I'm planning some things to list for sale on my new Selling Blog, hopefully I'll have it ready by sometime next week. If you're not on my email list, let me know and I'll add you so you'll know when I put something on the blog.
My email address: dla53@earthlink.net
And I'll be having my blog "Thank You" give-away coming up soon. I have two things in mind for it and I'm working on the third one now. So the next couple of weeks will be busy, I hope you'll all check back and sign up for the blog give-away.
I've had a fun day but tomorrow it's back to work. Hope you all have a good weekend and don't forget we have to change our clocks back this Saturday night.
Bye for now~Diane

It's a 2-step process you must complete to be added, the sign-up and the confirmation. Both just take a few seconds, so be sure to complete the process to be entered.
Also, any purchase from TDIPT Mercantile during the month of November counts as another entry for you.
There will be lots of wonderful Holiday/Winter creations. None of us are previewing our offerings on our websites, blogs or in emails. Another Preview!
Well after much time and alot of work I've finished two pieces for the Simply Primitives update on Wednesday the 15th. Hope you enjoy this little peek. The Santa and Snowman Cupboard Dolls feature so much detail and hand-work. First my "Ho Ho Snowman".

Second, "Jolly Olde St. Nick".

Don't forget The Primitive Gathering and Simply Primitives will both update the night of the 14th or on the 15th. I hope you can take a look at all the goodies listed on both sites, I'm sure you'll find a perfect accent for your Holiday decorating or a gift for a favorite friend. The links for both sites are to the right, just click on and it'll take you there.
My family had a great time yesterday at our reunion. There was alot of talking, laughing and eating and it was a perfect October day. We're already making plans to do it again next Fall. It was good to take the time and make the effort to get together, as one of my family said yesterday, "It looks like we only see each other at funerals and weddings and as we get older there are more funerals than weddings!"
So, we've decided to create a happy occasion to get together each year. It's fun to connect and catch up on each other's lives.
Well I need to get back to work, I have more deadlines to meet. Next time I post I'll give you an idea of what TDIPT Mercantile is planning for November. You're definitely going to want to check it out!
Talk to you later....~Diane~

A Preview...
I finished two pieces for my debut month on The Primitive Gathering site which updates the 15th. I've been working on somthing a bit different. I know so many of us are having to be more careful with our spending so I've been trying to come up with some designs that will not be so expensive but still have lots of charm and detail. I hope you enjoy them. The first is a very simple, serene Angel.

The second, a whimsical Snowman.

These two designs are cupboard dolls or shelf-sitters. I added lots of hand-stitching and details to them. The pockets feature hand-stitching, for the Angel "Peace on Earth" and for the Snowman "Merry Christmas".
I'm working on more of these for the Simply Primitives Update which is also the 15th of this month. I'll add pictures here when I get them finished.
Enjoy the beautiful Fall weather, our leaves are just starting to change here in Virginia, in a couple of weeks they will be glorious to see!

Working, working and.....working!!!
I'm working like crazy to be ready for all my deadlines that are quickly coming up! I have two this Friday the 10th. Simply Primitives and The Primitive Gathering (my first month for this one), both will update on the 15th. I'm trying to get at least two different things for each site.
I'm also finishing up a special order Santa for a dear, sweet lady in CA. Annnnd......, as if this isn't enough, I'm finishing up a snowman head sitting on a red woolfelt top-hat for Ebay! I hope to list him tomorrow night. I like how he's turning out, he's going to be perfect to use possibly as part of a centerpiece for your holiday table or sitting on the island in your kitchen. I can just picture him sitting in the middle of an evergreen wreath with "iced" berries and glittered snowflakes, it would be perfect actually for the entire winter. He's done in reds and greens, Christmas colors but no Christmas prints.
Then this Sunday we have a family reunion coming up. I'm doing some baking for this. I'm going to make tiny bite-size carrot cakes with cream cheese frosting and Black Bottoms. They are sooo good! Chocolate cake, cream cheese-chocolate chip filling and finished off with a caramel glaze! I might also make some bite-size brownies with peanut butter frosting, so yummy! I enjoy baking, I always have. So this will be a pleasure...not a chore.
I need to head to bed so I can get up early and get to work. I'll be sending out a mailing about my different updates, so if you're not already on my email list just drop me a request at dla53@earthlink.net and I'll get you added.
So, goodnight my friends, talk to you again soon.
