Some New Goodies
As I'd told you, my friend Donna, of Southern Star Antiques, attended the Olde Homestead Antique Show. She brought a few of my things back, I've added the pictures to my selling blog and Donna has more pictures of them on her PictureTrail site. You'll find the links for both to the right. Below is a group picture Donna took of the items that I've added to my selling blog. If you have any questions about them, please email me and I'll gladly get back to you.

Have a good night~Diane

New on Ebay Tonight....

I listed this set of four Seasonal Hearts tonight on Ebay. The auction will end next Monday night at 10:00 P.M. Eastern time. Hope you get to take a look at them. I always enjoy making things as a set including each of the seasons, one purchase and you have something new for Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
I think these hearts would look great hanging from the center of a large grapevine wreath. Change the heart each season and add a complimentary ribbon tied into a bow.
My friend Donna is back from the Olde Homestead show. She and Don were sick the entire time but luckily the show went really well with lots of things selling for them. She said people were really buying, that's good to hear with the economy being in such a turmoil.
It's going to be a busy week, orders to finish, a doctor's appointment Thursday and finally Friday a treat I look forward to each year. It's the weekend of a big show and sale that a lady near us has each Spring and Fall at her house. A mixture of antiques and new seasonal items, it's always so much fun. My Aunt and I make a day of it, so I'm really looking forward to it.
Til next time~Diane

Olde Homestead Show
My friend, Donna Smith of Southern Star Antiques, will be in Richmond, IN this weekend taking part in the Olde Homestead Antique Show. Although it's a show for primitive Antique dealers, they are allowed to bring a percentage of new to put in their booth. So I've been working on some things for Donna to take with her, a bit more primitive than most of my work lately. I must say I've thoroughly enjoyed the more primitive designs. While making a couple of large, very primitive hearts an idea popped into my head and it will be my next Ebay offering. I'll post a picture here when I get it finished.
To find find out more about the show, the dealers that are participating and some wonderful pictures from last year's show, click on the link to the right for "Cows in the Creek". And, if you are in the area I hope you get to attend the show. Donna's shop name is Southern Star Antiques. If you do get to go...Enjoy it!

Simply Primitives will update March the 15th. I'll be offering 5 different Cupboard-Tuck Dolls. They're small, the tallest is the bunny that measures a bit over 12", the rest are all around 9" tall and all are 5" wide. I added lots of trims and detail work to these. Pictured below is a Spring Bunny and a Summer Patriotic Girl. I have a Snowman for Winter and 2 different Fall dolls, a Halloween piece and one called Harvest Gatherings.

I hope you enjoy these, they're priced at 18.00 each plus 4.50 for priority mailing. I will combine shipping on orders of more than one. Hopefully I can get a few on my Selling Blog soon.
It's cold here again and some light snow has been falling. We went through the coldest part of Winter with no snow and now have had two in the last ten days or so, go figure! Anyway, it's a good day to stay in and make a big pot of potato soup and bake a cake. Hope your weekend is a good one~Diane

Let it Snow (& Snow & Snow!!)

It started snowing Sunday afternoon here in Virginia and didn't quit until Monday morning. The most snow we've seen in a number of years, beautiful, but devastating also. We lost our electricity Sunday night around 8:00, it was off until the next morning around 11:30 then went off again around 2:30 that afternoon. Back on at 7:00 p.m. Monday night and, knock on wood, hopefully to stay. If I know anything at all, I know I would not have been a successful pioneer. I do miss electricty when I don't have it. We tend to take for granted all the things it does for us. I'm sorry so many people in our state are still without power.
Sadly, as beautiful as the snow was, it broke limbs from so many trees and shrubs. My gorgeous crepe myrtles, ornamental Plum tree and dogwoods have suffered considerable damage. I'm hoping some pruning will take care of most of them. It make take a couple of years for them to come back as bushy as they were, but I'm hopeful.
The pictures are of my 12 year old Gypsy. People ask me what breed she is and I don't have an answer. She was abandoned in our neighborhood 12 years ago this Spring, just a young puppy at the time, that's how I know she's 12. She had a horrible skin condition, was missing most of her hair and had raw places all over her body. She got like this because it was some time before she would let any of us pet her, much less catch her. I have no idea what her first several months of life were like, the only thing I'm sure of was that they weren't good. We took her to the vet as soon as we were able to catch her. She was spayed and her skin condition was diagnosed. The options were to treat her aggressively with medicated baths (at the Vet's), 30.00 a bath, or have her put to sleep. Putting her to sleep was NOT something I even considered, by then she was a member of our family. She was spayed first because the condition she had could be passed on to any puppies she had.
At first, she was bathed once a week for several months, then twice a month for several months and then once a month until the Vet thought the problem was cured. Thankfully she responded well to the treatments, her hair starting growing back in and she turned into the beauty I think she is today. It was an expensive, time-consuming commitment, but one I have never regreted. She has repaid us in so many ways, she has the sweetest most loyal dispostion. In all the trips to the Vet and all she has had to endure she has never growled or snapped at anyone. She is intelligent, loving, playful and much loved.
So, to me, what breed she is makes absolutely no difference. She's my Gypsy and that's all that counts with me.

Miss Gypsy says she could use some sunglasses, the glare is hard on the eyes!
By the weekend the snow will probably be gone, we're in for a warming trend, I think Spring is on it's way...I'm ready for it.~Diane
